Shh…You Can’t Hear Him if You are Talking

"The Lord will fight for you, you have only to keep still" (Exodus 14:14):

The reflection statement I saw today…Be silent long enough to listen to God's voice. In today's readings I heard a lot about hearing God's voice. God speaks to people when they are open to hearing him, when they have formed a relationship with him, and when they are dedicated to prayer (talking to him). I read this reflection statement and at first said ok and moved on but my eyes kept coming back to this statement. I think about those times when I knew with 100% certainty that God was talking to me.  It was usually predicated by the things I mentioned above. When I talk to him daily and seek his word I can't explain how it works but I am more able to hear the Holy Spirit guiding me. Sometimes what I hear makes me uncomfortable like really out in left field but I have found if I push past the uncomfortable and do what the voice is telling me to do it is exactly what that person or thing that needed to be done at that right time. I think back on all the times I didn't do what the voice told me to do and all the blessings I missed out on. The voice I speak of sounds like my voice but the ideas are not my own. It could be a very small thing like "text this person and give them this scripture" or a big thing like showing me my prayers were answered in a dream. I know it sounds hokey pokey I get it but in the last 2 years I have seen with my own eyes and ears the power of prayer, forming a relationship w God, and the holy spirit's guidance. It sets afire my heart and makes me seek more. How about you? Are you listening to what God is telling you to do? If not start today. You won't be disappointed.

Keep on trucking.
