He is my light in the dark

Yes, He is the Father!

"See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don't recognize that we are God's children because they don't know him" (1 John 3:1).

In today's readings they describe God as a father almost like a dad. I don't know that I can conceive God as my dad it just seems weird. I guess sometimes I view him as some all-powerful man sitting high on a throne watching from on high. Other times I view him as the God of the old-testament who smote people for any offense. Someone who has little patience with us tiny humans. But what is so bizarre is even with my perception of God, as skewed as it may be, my love for his son is abundant and my relationship with him is strong. And they are the same person. I don't know if I really ever reflected on my true thoughts of God as my dad but he is truly the best dad there will ever be. He loves me at my worst and loves me at my best. He loves me when I am swirling in chaos and he loves me in my messes.  He laughs w me, shakes his head at my bratty ways and cries with me and is there with me when my heart is broken and has his very best blessings ready for me. He pulled me from darkness and shone his amazing peace filled light into my life and transformed me into what I am today. For today I will strive to embrace God as my father and I encourage you to do the same.

Keep on trucking.
